The Charities

The monies raised from Like A Bat Out Of Hell (the skydive) (the skydive) (the skydive) will be divided equally between Canine Partners (Registered Charity No. 803680) and Comic Relief (Registered Charity No. 326568).

We (me and Michelle) carefully chose these charities as we both have a great interest in encouraging social justice and inclusion and believe that they both compliment the motivations of the project.

Comic Relief's 'Red nose Day '09' campaign

Set up in 1985, Comic Relief has helped millions in the UK & globally to fight their way out of poverty through the power of the media and entertaining people attracting massive donations from those who may not normally donate to charity. The charity is most known for its work in Africa where the poorest people have been living in dyer conditions. After seeing the RND '07 telethon and watching 'Preventable and Curable' - the film following Shaila's death from Malaria - I couldn't just sit there and let it pass by. This charity was selected as we are both very passionate about preventing poverty.

Comic Relief is a registered charity with the Charity Commission in England & Wales with charity number 326568, and in Scotland with the Scottish Registered Charity No SC39730. More information on the charity can be found on the Comic Relief web site at http://www.comicrelief.com/ (the link will open in a new window).

Canine Partners

Canine Partners was set up in 1991 to train dogs to assist people who have physical disabilities to live independent lives. The dogs are then carefully partnered up with suitable candidates who benefit massively. The human partners are not charged for the dog and they only pay for the food and pet insurance. The charity has now successfully placed over 140 dogs with people across the UK since its launch. The charity hve provided me with Nemo and I am impressed with how they make sure that every dog they train and place is happy. Nemo is so helpful as he can literally open doors for me - I love him! I just want to give something back in return for getting Nemo.

Canine Partners is a registered charity with the Charity Commission in England & Wales with charity number 803680, and in Scotland with the Scottish Registered Charity No SCO39050. More information on the charity can be found on the Canine Partners web site at http://www.caninepartners.co.uk/ (the link will open in a new window).
